As If I Didn’t Know
My plane don’t land till midnight
I know she’ll be asleep when I get home
She understands her working man
And knows she has to spend
Some nights alone
Never once heard her complain
She just keeps on rolling with the flow
I tell myself I’m lucky
As if I didn’t know
Look at her curled up like a baby
Lying there on my side of the bed
Sleeping like a woman
Who doesn’t have a worry in her head
I don’t want to wake her up
So silently I slip out of my clothes
Ain’t she the perfect picture
As if I didn’t know
I see contentment on her face
And how that pillow frames her long dark hair
And as far as I’m concerned
I’m looking at an angel lying there
On the bedside table, I see
she’s written my name on a note
It says honey I love you
As if I didn’t know
Oh oohh
I’ tell myself I’m lucky as if I didn’t know.
