Everyone knows someone like him

(1)
He's worked twenty five years for the same man
And ain't got a dime to show for it
He use to be the top rung on the ladder
Now there's no strength to go for it
A man gets tired,a man gets beat
When success doesn't taste as sweet
As he thought it would, like he thought it should
(ch)
He's a wreck on the interstate
A melted candle on a birthday cake
A dark cloud when you're looking for a sunny day
A worn out book with the pages torn
Hates himself for just being born
He's out of luck and self respect
He's a wreck
(2)
The money didn't get him nothing
He couldn't find on his own
Now he drinks his dinner alone at night
Complains about every chance he's blown
He's got no peace,he's got no life
Lost his best friend when he lost his wife
To another man,it kinda ruined his plans
repeat ch.
(brdg)
He put his life in the hands of a man he thought he could trust
With blind faith he watched as his golden rule turned to rust
repeat ch.
