This song was #1 Song on Folk/Acoustic/Americana New Songs Chart for several months and 1st in all genres for some time. It remains my most popular tune and I love playing it live. The guitar picking for this song is inspired by an African drum rhythm which got stuck in my head and developed into this track.
Thanks to Richard Bloom for production and solos. Thanks to Patchwork for the accompanying video.

This song conveys the elusiveness of finding what we want in our lives but has a hint of optimism in that the sun does rise again every day.

Why, why
Can't we touch the sky
Can't we touch the sky
You, you
Called to me so loud
Above the stormy clouds
We, we
We were nearly there
Lifted on warm air
Two, two
Wanted to be one
Forgot it can't be done
And when the day is gone
We'll follow the sun
Why, why
Can't we touch the sky
Can't we touch the sky
And when the day is gone
We'll follow the sun
