A gentle and beautiful message of peace, originally written for the independent project www.CarePackageCD.com to benefit families affected by the 2005 Asian tsunami.

I usually have a devil of a time writing lyrics, but this song seemed to flow naturally and essentially wrote itself. I was honored to be chosen for the CarePackage CD project and worked very hard to complete "Why" in my home studio.

Children shouldn't play on a dirty street
In a shanty town with nothing to eat
Where they only dream of going to school
Where they do not know what it is to be full
Chorus:
I say
Take the good and let it lead the way
Sweet peace
Will I live to see the day?
I will die
Going to my grave still asking why
Do you cry
When you see those empty eyes?
Why do we fight
Why do we bleed
Why do we war
Over things we don't need
Why do we hurt
When we all want to heal
Desperate voices
In a world that's too real
Women should not fear the setting sun
Where there is no shelter left to run
Men should be sleeping in their beds
After the thanks for daily bread
Chorus
Bridge
No one should ever understand
What it is to lose his in men
Through all the turmoil and the strife
What is the value of one life?
Chorus
