Kind of sad, kind of enchanted, one masks the other.
The lyrics are probably inspired by girls I've known. The music is whatever chord/melody combination was moving me at the time. I tend to gravitate towards major-minor key contrasts in much of what I write. The production took shape around an old 12 string guitar someone gave me that hadn't been restrung for a couple decades, had a very dusty yet sharp sound (it doesn't appear until the first chorus, but it became the theme that gave this track much of its character). I decided to program something icy sounding for the percussion to match the theme of the lyrics and sound of the song... sounds like a winter scene to me.

Born of the fallen sky
Lost in a sea of constellations
She grew inside a shell
Living a myth for history to tell
She fades out
She leaves herself
To keep her light from burning out
The coldest night has left her numb
She sleeps under a frozen sun
And when the moon is high
Twilight will call her out from hiding
To dance where the dragons fly
But you could never catch her if you tried
She fades out
She leaves herself
To keep her light from burning out
The coldest night has left her numb
She sleeps under a frozen sun
