Darkyly sinister

Written and composed by: Shaun Shears

Arranged By: Shaun Shears/Nathan Thomas/ Bryony Cleater

This song is primarily about when life takes you over and the truth just doesn't sound like the truth and even you're sick of the drain of the world, in my case my addiction to painkillers and returning to life after a spell of being really ill. Someone I met asked me where I had been? Afraid of scrutiny I garbbled a bad joke cos I had been I right prick to this person v. arrogant and a bit of an asshole. When I got home I wanted to ring them but everything sounded like an excuse so intead of picking up the phone I went to my out of tune piano and wrote this I liked the idea of quiet chorus and loud verse the intial studio edit was just piano and vox a phat bass Bryony came in added her lovely subconcious guitar intro its a shame she only had an acoustic cos we would of blasted the second verse with cellos and electric guitar butn i think the scratching at the end leaves u with sense of on going anxiety. Check out youtube for a live version where it gets a bit operatic and punky!
'Nobody Likes To Hear Excuses'

The things I said when I was high confidence is what arrogance gave me made me speak my mind and as I begin to explain the all come to scrutinise.

Chorus: Cos nobody likes to hear excuses x3

Cheating man down on his knees and he’s begging her not to leave and he’s begging her not to leave and as she looks into his eys she falls into them open wide

and as she I begin to explain the all come to scrutinise.

Chorus: Cos nobody likes to hear excuses x3

But we do from the doctors and the politicans and from us yeah it’s true I was late for work again it was the traffic it was the rain.

Chorus: Cos nobody likes to hear excuses x3

But we do.
