Urbanfunk Founded in ’93 by Franco Baggiani, they created two very interesting releases, like Mr.No (1995) and Endosimbiosi (1996). They performed live and intensely all over Italy and received many upbeat reviews on specialized magazines, both in Italy and abroad. Recently, in an article by Mark Fish for the New York monthly “Loop”, Baggiani and his releases have been listed among the most interesting events occurred in Italy in the last ten years. After a couple months’ break, the band released a new, completely groundbreaking album that interrupted the group’s previous trend. There are new musicians. There are no voices. The crucial ingredient is improvisation, just as it is the fundamental element of contemporary jazz, a connecting thread between the first UBF components and the current ones. There is full emotional impetus and determination: thanks to the band’s leader, the group creates magic alchemies blending bop and contemporary groove, winding through the sea of modern jazz. In 2000, the band released and went on tour with “W Tex”; then in 2002 they released “Urbanfunk”, the most recent album published by Sound Records, which is a collection of compositions from the band’s considerable repertoire.
