MAMA’S LEAVING HOME By Bev Grant
She’s leaving, she’s leaving, she’s leaving home(2x)
She’s leaving home after so many years
Mama’s leaving home.
Nothing left behind to keep her anymore
Mama’s leaving home.
She never thought there was another way
Til the children left and she had nothing left to do or say
Papa’s getting older. Always tired, he’ll never change
Mama’s kinda restless, has a life to rearrange
(She’s leaving home) after so many years (she’s leaving home)
Mama’s leaving home.
Nothing left behind to keep her anymore
Mama’s leaving home. (she’s leaving home)
So many years she used to wonder why
She never felt fulfilled by the chicken she would fry
Or the clothes she used to wash or the floors she used to mop
She was always on the bottom. Never got to try the top.
(She’s leaving home) after so many years (she’s leaving home)
Mama’s leaving home.
Nothing left behind to keep her anymore
Mama’s leaving home.(she’s leaving home.)
She’d rather leave than sit around and mope
Her fear of change has turned into the open arms of hope
She knows the future doesn’t hold a guarantee
Mama’s tired of sittin’, says she’s got a lot to see
(She’s leaving home after so many years
Mama’s leaving home.
Nothing left behind to keep her anymore
Mama’s leaving home.)
She’s leaving, she’s leaving, she’s leaving home.
