After reading the book 'John' by Cynthia Lennon, I felt horribly sad for little Julian, and the abuse he endured. When you read the book you will understand. I understood why Paul wrote hey Jude and decided to tag that and continue the story. Julian has since heard the recording and can be contacted for his thoughts on the tune and his mum's book.
