I was having and online discussion about racists and the phrase "I can't change your heart" just came out. I knew right away that there was a song in that phrase and shortly I wrote it I wrote and produced this song

I can be your slave 300 years
Endure pain and suffering and fear
I can risk my life in every war
And don’t even know what were dieing for
I can tend your field harvest your crops
Any trees you need get trimmed or chopped
I can be your worker everyday
But theres one thing that I just can’t change
I can’t change your heart
I can’t change the hatred that you have inside for me
I can’t change your heart.
I can’t change your hatred and your love for bigotry
I can be the doctor who saves your life
Or the police man who fought your fight
The Olympic runner who ran for gold
Or the minister who prayed for your soul
I can change my clothes and fix my hair
Just to feel your hate in that cold stare
Like I don’t belong here anywhere
In your heart I know that you don’t care
I can’t change your heart
I can’t change the hatred that you have inside for me
I can’t change your heart.
I can’t change your hatred and your love for bigotry
I know it doesn’t matter however I may feel
You are going to hate me for the color I can’t conceal
It doesn’t really matter whatever I may do
I can’t change the hating heart that beats inside of you.
Bigotry, discrimination, Police states and incarceration. Gerrymandering, all over this nation
And I know that I cannot change how you feel about Black people
I can’t change your heart
I can’t change the hatred that you have inside for me
I can’t change your heart.
I can’t change your hatred and your love for bigotry
