Snitch, Squeal, Narc, Rat, informer and fink. These are all negative words used to describe someone who talks to police about criminals and the crimes they commit. Right down the freeway from me is the murder capital of California. Oakland. The people in the neighborhoods are so concerned about retaliation that the criminals continue to get away with murder, rape, theft, robbery and all kinds of other crimes. This song asks a simple question. Will somebody sing? In this context the word sing is used to describe someone who informs to the police. These brave souls know that once the word gets out about them, they may not live to see another day. They also know that the police cannot protect them. That's why I say sing and then run for your life. It's song about the least heralded form of bravery.

Will somebody sing, can somebody sing, anybody sing then run for your life
Will somebody sing, can somebody sing, anybody sing then run for your life
They terrorize our neighborhoods with violence and gangs and crime
They sell their poison to our children and to anyone they find
They commit bloody murder, they shoot innocent people by mistake
fear and intimidation will control us unless somebody stands to sing
Will somebody sing, can somebody sing, anybody sing then run for your life
Will somebody sing, can somebody sing, anybody sing then run for your life
They get away with rape, assualt and theft and even robbery
They steal our cars to commit homicides and sometimes burglary
And their seldom arrested, cause nobody stands up brave enough to tell
When we see them in action, everybody's singing voices start to fail
Will somebody sing, can somebody sing, anybody sing then run for your life
Will somebody sing, can somebody sing, anybody sing then run for your life
Aint nodody seen nothing everbody tries act they don't know shit
And we can't get no justice cause we don't use the voices we been crying with
And blood keeps flowing on the city streets and everybody shuts down cause their scared an weak
But somebody's got to sing a song sooner or later or the crimes get bigger and the murderers greater
And we act like we don't give a damn, till its our own child laying on the ground
Thats when we look to crowd with hope that's when scream does somebody know
Just who kills innocent little ones, just who lives for revenge with guns
Just who fills all hearts with pain, just who did it, sombody's gotta sing
For neighborhoods we survive in, somebody's gotta sing yeah
For the fear of retaliation we live in, sombody's gotta sing yeah
For the babies caught in the cross fire, somebody's gotta sing yeah
For the mothers crying by the graveside, somebody's gotta sing yeah
Will somebody sing, can somebody sing, anybody sing then run for your life
Will somebody sing, can somebody sing, anybody sing then run for your life
Will somebody sing, can somebody sing, anybody sing then run for your life
Will somebody sing, can somebody sing, anybody sing then run for your life
Will somebody sing, can somebody sing
Will somebody sing, can somebody sing
