I wrote the original lyric in 2019 in the midst of a bad bout of pneumonia I wasn't sure I'd survive. It seems the experience rendered me philosophical. ;) Although I can - and often do - create my own melodies, I don't play an instrument. I'm strictly a lyricist. I wasn't able to find anyone to add music to the piece and sing it, so after making a couple of minor adjustments to the lyric, I decided two months ago to try my hand with Suno. I wanted a laid-back jazzy-blues song with only guitar and light percussion, and this was the result. I hope you enjoy it. :)
If there's an anti-AI-assistance policy on the site, please let me know and I'll remove the song.

The Edge of the World
[V1]
I once was… an infant
I once was.. a child
I once was.. a woman
Who feared to be wild
[V2]
I once was… a dreamer
I once was… a wife
I once was… a woman
Who misread her life
[Bridge]
Now finally free of the undertow
…I’m one with the water –
…Its ebb and its flow
The waves rise to meet me
Wherever I go
Oh, my heart is a boat
With its mainsail unfurled
Its prow pointing west
…Toward the edge… of the world
[V3]
I once was… a lover
I once was… a friend
I once was… a woman
…Afraid of the end
[Outro/half-bridge]
Now, my heart is a boat
With its mainsail unfurled
Its prow pointing west
Toward my home …at the edge of the world
