Here is a song sung from the perspective of a holy person about to be hung. It questions how 'this world' will remember such a person after they are gone.

written by Michael Hansen...

I wrote this song in a Chinese Restaurant in Ithaca, New York...shotly after moving there.
I remember all my saintly friends...I see there faces again...I see their lost desires Like the center of a gem...They've all been don long back road..they've all carried heavy loads...there's nothing very light about a life devoid of sin...

Chorus: So hang me oh hang me...and I'll be dead and gone
hang me oh hang me before I great the dawn
Hang me oh hang me...and I'll be dead and gone
hang me oh hang me...I been on the job too long.

And Mayrtrs they wear cigarrettes...watch blonds & reds & false brunettes
as they choose the county churches that they think that they might bless
but under their cloak of decency...there is always so much more to see...
and even the professors they can only forge a guess...

Chorus

And the road is just way to long...to ever level right and wrong...
at christmas time the kittens they play beneath the tree
and love is is played with shins
Kierkegaard's container bins...and everybody everywhere is already free

chorus
