This song is a slow paced one. It's a mixture of generes. If you listen close, you'll hear a hip-hop backbeat layered in.

This song originally was dark. I wrote the original draft while I was in the depths of depression. When I first played it for my friends, they didn't like it. If was too depressing. I set the song aside and came back after I had recovered from my funk. They were right, I needed to make the message one of hope. That you can choose to not take it anymore and move on.
MY LIFE

I’ve been so stupid she screamed out loud
How did my life get this way?
All my friends think I have this perfect life
But, I can’t keep living this way.

It was in that moment that she realized
That it’s all up to her to begin a new life
Cause we all change, you can’t go back
It’s not right or wrong it’s just a matter of fact
The time has come without a doubt
You know what I’m talking about
Say I’m not gonna take this anymore.

This just ain’t working it’s plain to see
How did my life get this way?
I took this journey with hope I’d find myself
But I got lost on the way

It was in that moment that he realized
That it’s all up to him to begin a new life
Cause we all change, you can’t go back
It’s not right or wrong it’s just a matter of fact
The time has come without a doubt
You know what I’m talking about
Say I’m not gonna take this anymore.

SOLO

I didn’t notice, when did things change
How did my life get this way?
Just when you think that you’ve got it made
It can all get taken away

But it’s in that moment that we realize
That it’s all up to us to begin a new life
Cause we all change you can’t go back
It’s not right or wrong it’s just a matter of fact
The time has come without a doubt
You know what I’m talking about
Say I’m not gonna take this anymore.
No, I’m not gonna take this anymore
Say I’m not gonna take this anymore
