Women's Anthem for the Millennium
|
Originally written with & for Beth Eichel's Women of Spirit CD. Beth gave me some lyrics & the first words were "We are mothers. We are daughters. We are sisters. We are friends." I immediately had a melody & groove & the song pretty much wrote itself instanteously. Nafeesa Monroe adds power with her spoken word piece "The World's Bond" which is featured in the middle of the song in the re-mix (which is not on the album but on the single). I had eight other wonderful ladies join me on the vocals & adlibs to add that dynamic women vibe! It's been sung & sold at a number of women's retreats & meetings already...can't wait to share it with more laides!

WOMEN OF TODAY (Album: Suncatcher)
by Beth Eichel & Faith Rivera
We are mothers
We are daughters
We are sisters
We are friends
We are teachers
We are leaders
We are women
Hear us sing
We are beauty
We are gracefulness
To all who
Come our way
Our hearts are soft
Our spirit's strong
We are the women of today
We are the voices of today
We are the spirit of today
We are white
We are black
We are all colors
In between
We are young
We are old
We're bound by
Vision, bound by Dreams
We are timeless
We are present
We're the future
Here today
Our hearts are soft
Our spirit's strong
We are the women of today
We are the voices of today
We are the spirit of today
We are the women of today
We are the Spirit of today
Today our love will heal our brothers
Bring us back to one another
Let us be the way back to the wonder
We are the women of today
We are purpose
We are perfect
We are present
We are here
To love you as you are
We are courage
We are passion
We are still
Our hearts are soft
Our spirit's strong
We are the women of today
We are the voices of today
We are the spirit of today
We are the women of today
We are the spirit of today
We are mothers, We are daughters
We are sisters, We are friends
We are white, We are black
We are young, We are old
We are timeless, We are present
Our hearts are soft, Our spirit's strong
We are teachers, We are leaders
We are beauty, We are grace
