The dark phoenix rises from red fire dying,
cold stone's pale gleaming erases the sun.
Starshine, the eyes of those now forgotten,
bear silent witness and plot their return.
Colorful chaos of sunlight defeated
Daysongs now silenced by silver and black
One and the other, the pattern repeated
But never going back.
In well hidden den the unseen are stirring
awakened by hunger and absence of light
to hunt in the darkness, eyes silently shining,
like the forgotten they gleam in the night.
The wind is the path, each sound like thunder
cloaked by their mother in silver and black
Half will be over and half will lie under
But never going back.
Hidden by earth, sheltered from seeing,
they huddle together as quiet as death.
Some of them sleeping, none of them dreaming,
escaping the hunters with each passing breath.
Time is the answer, each second that passes
like water on stone for the silver and black
Sand dropping slowly through Earth's hour glasses
But never going back.
Glow in the east, the phoenix is dying,
the forgotten fade, erased by the sun.
Cold stone sinks low, upon the horizon,
red fire rising, the daysongs return.
Blue sky on fire with chaotic colors
Eternally battles the silver and black
Yesterday pushed and tomorrow will pull us
But never, never, never going back
PS...Jilly added a couple of extra lines for the choruses.
