Acoustic Guitar and Male Voice Ballad.
Peter Coy, Scott Maynard

There is always someone in your crowd of friends who stays younger looking and thinking than the rest. This song was written as a Birthday poem to our ingenue and it seemed to beg for a tune. I played a chord sequence that had been running insitantly through my head to Scott and "hey presto we have liftoff". Both of us were stunned at how simply and beautifully this came together.

Forever ingénue
No matter what you do
The pages turn for you
Slower that the rest of us mere mortals
The night follows the day
The sun has slid away
To the last bright gleaming ray
In the windows and sacred portals
Is time the lasting friend
That’s with us to the end
Or does it condescend
With space in our dimension
To give us room to grow
The endless seeds to sow
The waves that come and go
Without our intervention
Forever ingénue
In life’s peculiar stew
Where all that’s old is new
An endless circle of existence
Come join hands in the dance
Be brave and take a chance
With courage to advance
With hope and love that goes the distance
