A swampy heavy acoustic 12 string riff driven tune reminiscent of Led Belly influenced acoustic Led Zeppelin.

This song came from riffing on my old Larrivee 12 sting in open Db tuning. The lyrics came from my frustration of not being able to tour because I am committed to a teaching career that I also love doing. I guess you can't have it all!

MISSISSIPPI
Written by: STEVE "MUD DOG" SAINAS
Spent too many years in the cold
Growin' numb getting' too old
Spent too many years in the dark
Eyes closed workin' too hard
Got no money slavin' for nothin'
Spinnin' wheels sinking in the mud
Afriad to move , afraid to change the scene
Afraid to live life like I should have been
Got bury all my fear
Got to get away from here
Take me down to that rollin' river
Take me down where I can be free
Take me down to that rollin' river
Take me down to Mississippi
Like an old dog chewin' on an old bone
Got no meat, but won't let go
Spent his whole life diggin' round his backyard
Never knowin' what lies beyond
Always talkin' 'bout that big trip
Always talkin' never will commit
Still workin', still sinkin'
Dreams driftin', years slip away
Got bury all my fear
Got to get away from here
Take me down to that rollin' river
Take me down where I can be free
Take me down to that rollin' river
Take me down to Mississippi
Take me down to Mississippi
(solo)
Got bury all my fear
Got to get away from here
Take me down to that rollin' river
Take me down where I can be free
Take me down to that rollin' river
Take me down to Mississippi
Take me down to that rollin' river
Take me down where I can be free
Take me down to that rollin' river
Take me down to Mississippi
Take me down to Mississippi...Yeah!
