NOTHING GETS ME HIGH ANYMORE
I met a girl in the summertime
With flowers in her hair
But with a chain so tight around her aching heart
And a thousand mile stare
But I am still struck by
This one thing that' she said
When i asked her if she loved me
When I asked her if she cared
She said "Oh baby, don't you know
Nothing gets me high anymore
But can I keep coming
Keep coming back for more?"
Then she broke down and told me of her true love
And a misunderstanding that they had
After the fight on a stormy night
He jumped in the truck and split
Then later on, around midnight
The front doorbell rang
He crashed out on the highway
And was never coming back
"Oh baby, don't you know
Nothing gets me high anymore
But can I keep coming
Keep coming back for more?
Can I keep coming
Keep coming back for more?
