SHAKING ON THE GRASS
Day was hot like a stewing pot
Leaves began to sag
Farmer Joe was lying low
Sleeping on his swag
Piglet dipped down in the dam
With the pony and the ass
'n old sheepdog was drying off
Shaking on the grass
Wily fox in his hiding spot
Finally saw his chance
On the sheep all fast asleep
He started to advance
"I could snag a tender lamb
If I make a move real fast
While old sheepdog is drying off
Shaking on the grass"
A sheep awoke, said "ain't no joke
I'm feeling kind of scared
It's nearly night and much too quiet
I think we oughta scram
The crows have flown, we're all alone
In this paddock up the back
'n old sheepdog has clocked off the job
He's shaking on the grass"
Well wily fox, yeah he did pounce
As scattered sheep ran all about
Old sheepdog was in paradise
Shaking water off his coat, yee haw!
Before that fox could lick his chops
On tender tasty lamb
Farmer Joe was on the go
With a pitchfork in his hand
He said "Where's that mutt, gonna kick his butt"
As he looked down to the dam
Where old sheepdog was drying off
Shaking on the grass
Yeah old sheepdog was drying off
Shaking on the grass
