PETITION
Morning mist cloaks the trees
Paddymelon hops quietly
Through her shrinking home
Pythons crawl on clear felled ground
As a green tree frog
Leaps croaking up to your window sill
And when he does
Oh please won’t you listen
He has come for your petition
But your tears are just raindrops in his eyes
In this world of revelation
There must be a realisation
That it won’t be no home if they’re not around
Salty breeze from the sea
Flocks of seagulls flap noisily
Round some plastic bags
Humpback whales sing lonely songs
As a pod of dolphins comes splashing up
While you walk the shore
And when they do
Oh please won’t you listen
They have come for your petition
But your fear is just water of their backs
Riding this wave of hysteria
Towards a conscious global era
But it won’t be no home if they’re not around
