Every great teacher speaks to us of helping the hungry and homeless - who is listening?

Jesus Wasn’t Hungry

Siddhartha wept when he looked at his nation
Jesus fed the hungry while he offered salvation
Krishna taught Arjuna how to raise up the weaker
But we can't hear the message If we don't hear the speaker
Yeah! Rules we are defying
Fools who stand there denying
Hope is like food for the tired of living
Food is your hope when no one is giving a damn
Try to feed your spirit when your stomach is hollow
Freezing in the rain when there is no sun to follow
Abraham can't save you outside the temple
But, I used to think like you - the answers were simple
Yeah! Rules we are defying
Fools who stand there denying
Hope is like food for the tired of living
Food is your hope when no one is giving a damn
Jesus wasn't hungry
Still he fed five-thousand that were
And even though you might be a loser
There's still hope for a cure
You shouldn't live your life
Like something was eating your brain
But no one ever said
The meaning was plain
Mohammed cried out when he saw the homeless
Those who are displaced and wandering aimless
The Tao councils we should walk in the middle
But, Lao-tse would not deny - you should give back a little
Yeah! Rules we are defying
Fools who stand there denying
Hope is like food for the tired of living
Food is your hope when no one is giving a damn
