YIELD
Featured on Pause for Effect - 2012
Yield was written in a fit of frustration towards corporate power and red tape - the idea that someone or something can be too big to care about you or acknowledge your concerns. Those in power can treat the people beneath them terribly, but that is just the way things work, so people put up with it. Attempts to voice concerns or do something fall on deaf ears or get lost in paperwork and apathy.

The answer, the question
another selection
the quips, and the phrases
are going through phases
I need a release from
the bureau of hate
and the people who watch them
and silently wait
So why not take a chance 'cause everyone fails
and you're powerless against us as we sharpen a nail for you
It's your time and place to lose
So they'll get their progress into me and I'll see with new eyes
'Cause all of this insanity's a blessing in disguise
But you never do them wrong so, why do you fear the law?
All it takes is a hollow dream
Set to run and reign supreme
You hear the voices and the scoring is in
But not everyone can win
You can't find a way to fight us today
It's so disheartening that they lead you astray
If you still insist we might make a list
And get around to it one of these days
Now we go our separate ways
So they'll get their progress into me and I'll see with new eyes
'Cause all of this insanity's a blessing in disguise
But you never do them wrong so, why do you fear the law?
We could never fight
It will be alright
