This is sort of just a song about night-long unrequited love with a stranger. It's a sort of 'sentimental because of beer' type song in the vein of "I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You" by Tom Waits. The song was created collaboratively.

I co-wrote this song with a friend of mine named Mark Jasa. I had created chord arrangements for about 70 of his songs and he eventually asked me if there was one of the songs I'd like to expand on in my own creative direction. I told him, seeing as how I was on kind of a folk/country kick, that I saw potential in "Hey Little Girl". While arranging chords for it, the hook continually reminded me of something Tim Hardin probably would have penned. Prior to my taking the song in my own creative direction, it had been more of 90's/80's sounding experimental rock piece that ended with a sort of climactic modulated part similar to what you'd probably hear in a Foreigner song. The lyrics were also pretty avant-garde in that they seemed to deal more with the scenario of a man dropping hints and clues for a woman to subliminally communicate his feelings for her (as opposed to) a slightly drunk man pining after a beautiful young woman who walked into the bar amidst noise and boisterousness and working up the courage to express interest in her. That was the direction I felt inclined to travel and the result is what you hear presently. I hope you enjoy!
