This song can be looked at in two ways. Either it's an ironic warning of the coming era of alternative facts we live in today or it's a message to all novice romantics that disputes between lovers are never simply right vs wrong.

I wrote this song back in early 2016. I was driving down to LA once a month to work on a film score with my buddy Bobby Parker of Salem's Bend because we were doing a film score for our friends Herman Ming and Carrie Wong. Before one of the trips down to LA I purchased a cassette of Sixto Rodriguez's "Coming From Reality" and I listened to the album the whole way down to LA. It was really inspiring and in particular I liked the song "It Started Out So Nice". When I arrived down to LA Bob was still at work, so I sat on the couch and tried to write a song that was sort of psychedelic in the style of Rodriguez. I came up with "Meet Me Halfway". Originally the song was supposed to be about a liminal perspective, Neither here nor there. Neither myth nor reality, but somewhere in-between- But it ended up being more about psychology, society and communication.

Halfway on the walk back home
Halfway together, half alone
Halfway home there was a storm
As I finished half a poem
Half the battle is won if we'll admit we only halfway understand
Meet me halfway and today and tomorrow
Yes forever, we'll possess two truths for everything at hand
Halfway through I took a guess
And got it right on my first try
But what's the use in being right
If we can't see eye to eye?
Half the battle is won if we'll admit we only halfway understand
Meet me halfway and today and tomorrow
Yes forever, we'll possess two truths for everything at hand
