She took the ring off her finger copyright 2018 Derek McCorkell
She took the ring off her finger as she walked away
She had no more cause to wear it
Their divorce was final today.
And now that it's all over, and after all they had been through,
Saying goodbye at the Courthouse, was the hardest thing to do.
For 20 years that little Golden Band
Was a bond they shared in life,
She proudly wore it there on her left hand,
It showed that they were man & wife .
She never dreamed he'd be untrue,
He'd be there forever & a day.
But she took the ring off her finger as she walked away.
Remembers clear the day they said I do,
He told her that he loved her,she said she loved him too.
Now 20 years along the road of life he wanted to be free,
A single tear ran down her cheek ,as the Judge signed that Decree.
For 20 years that little Golden Band
Was a bond they shared in life,
She proudly wore it there on her left hand,
It showed that they were man & wife .
She never dreamed he'd be untrue,
He'd be there forever & a day.
But she took the ring off her finger as she walked away.
She never dreamed he'd be untrue,
He'd be there forever & a day.
But she took the ring off her finger as she walked away.
But she took the ring off her finger as she walked away.
She took the ring off her finger as she walked away.
