That old coast road at night so lonely dark and cold
That changed the night she was stuck by the side of the road
I offered her a ride into town and she said that’s just fine
Before I dropped her off I swore I’d make her mine
Time passed like torture I couldn’t forget her face
A few nights later I drove down the same road same place
in the headlights glow she stood sweet déjà vu
She said I got nowhere to go but I was thinking of you
She was just a poor girl from the better side of town
Told me her life was lonely until I came around
Days were cool nights warm but now its tears I cry
I swear I never meant to hurt you…… Lorelai
Days with her flew by pure joy pure sweet bliss
Vivid memories of every smile every touch every kiss
Last Friday night proved to be the end
When the smiling face next to me told me she needed a friend
barroom eyes my foggy mind the sin of indiscretion
I looked up to see Lorelai running in the other direction
I ran out but she took off tires screaming on down the road
Grabbed my coat to catch her a cold night a quarter to two
Put the pedal to the floor trying to outrace my heart
When I saw flashing lights up ahead and flames piercing the dark
Cop standing there grabbed me said there’s nothing you can do
As tears fell on the hood of my car realized my life was through
