An upbeat love song with a feminist twist
Ian White on bass and percussion (hitting a cardboard box).

A song about not getting married. The romantic reasons such as not being tied together so knowing the other person just really wants to be there. The political reasons such as the desire to not be 'given away' from one man (your Dad) to another (your Husband), cause on the surface that is kinda sweet and touching but its rooted in some pretty sexist stuff! :)

Verse 1 Em G
Society says get married, you’ll get more respect
Not interested in your tax break, vote happiness instead
I will not get given away, from one man to another
A marriage certificate won’t be signed, by my farther and not my mother
Bridge and chorus FC
Well I woke up this morning, and I, see you smiling at me
Well I woke up this morning, and I’m feeling so happy
No ties are hanging over us, you’re there because, you want to be
Verse 2 Em G
I don’t want to spend a day, being told I look ‘so pretty’
As bunch of men they share the stage, saying something witty
Nothing to prove to the world, secure enough in ourselves
No need for mass attention, won’t be hearing wedding bell’s
Bridge and chorus FC
Verse 3 Em G
I’d like to grow old with you, you’re well aware of that
You’re the only one for me, It’s a fact
Knowing you could walk away, but your there for me
Don’t require a contract, to make us a we.
Bridge, chorus, chorus FC
