This song was born of anguish - an anguish that begets the fury of the song. When the music monster is loosed, those in its path wither before its power.
I hear the trouble, the damage is done
There in the distance, the beat of the drums
They say a broken heart unleashes the beast
You better watch out when the guitars release

I’ve got a song about it
This band of heartbreak
You’ve got a record
And it’s playing straight to my face
We could’ve had a rhythm
But you are out of time
If I can’t get you
Let the music monster make you mine

The music monster creeps through the night
Playing it’s heart out and wanting your life
You did me dirty look what I’ve turned into
Close your eyes when it’s coming for you

I’ve got a song about it
This band of heartbreak
You’ve got a record
And it’s playing straight to my face
We could’ve had a rhythm
But you are out of time
If I can’t get you
Let the music monster make you mine

Deep in the basement just out of sight
I summon the monster and begin to write
I’ve never been good at revenge
I don’t have much but I’ve got a pen

I’ve got a song about it
This band of heartbreak
You’ve got a record
And it’s playing straight to my face
We could’ve had a rhythm
But you are out of time
If I can’t get you
Let the music monster make you mine
I’ve got a song about it
This band of heartbreak
You’ve got a record
And it’s playing straight to my face
We could’ve had a rhythm
But you are out of time
If I can’t get you
Let the music monster make you mine x

Music Monsters
Ashley and Edward! Thank you for two of the MOST AWESOME back-to-back nights of my life!!! Can't wait to see you again in Spring of 2018! You’ll have more time; we’ll resume our rhyme. Your Music Monster for you has the time. (New station photo taken by Paul, the RL Hotel bartender, with Ashley's camera.) Sing along with MUSIC MONSTER: "I hear the trouble; the damage is done. Eve's Thing is Good Songs
a different sounding song from one of my favorite indie bands. Whitherward has such a great spirit, it's contagious.

Itso's Earworms
My #1 favorite song by Whitherward! And that's saying a lot, as I really REALLY like quite a few of their songs... Since it's an "older" song too (see my blurb for "Sleeping With A Stranger" for more on that), I bullied Ashley and Ed into uploading it onto their IMP page now (LOL) and then I ran, didn't walk, to log into here and add it to my station... Maybe I shouldn't analyze it too much and try to put a genre label on it... Whitherward themselves listed it as "Indie Folk", but it's definitely more than just that - part of the beauty of such epic great songs is that they are almost *above* any genre classifications. Whatever it is, I simply love it. The melodies, the clever vocal arrangement and inspired vocal performance by both singers, the orchestral/chamber-music feel with the abundance of instruments in the backing track (which in this case doesn't seem excessive at all, as it fits the song perfectly; I especially loved the idea to add the trombone) - everything adds up to a brilliant work of art in popular music format, which somehow manages to be insanely catchy at the same time; rather than being "sophisticated" but actually just pretentious and boring, which sometimes happens when music artists try to be too... well, artsy; not in this case though - the *artsy* feel comes naturally, from within the Music Monster, and doesn't hurt the catchiness and enjoyability of the song for me (Do such words even exist in English - "catchiness" and "enjoyability", or did I just invent them?...LOL Anyway, whoever knows my music tastes, or even just looks at all the blurbs on this station, will know that those two qualities of songs, whatever they should be called, are essential for my music experience). And this blurb is already getting way too long anyway, so I'll just say this (borrowing a bit from the song page :P): Beware the Music Monster! When it is loosed, those in its path wither (not whither ;)) before its power! Muahahahahaha
