The observation of a man trying to come to terms with his wife`s death.

I wrote this song to give to a friend of mine who is a blues singer/guitarist because he was looking for some original material for touring, alas he never took the song so I recorded it myself! It`s a simple minor melody with a heartfelt storyline.

The Nighthawk Blues
When the night has come, and the moon is shining through
From midnight `til the dawn, I can`t sleep without you
And it feels so long, since you`ve been gone…
And lonely too!
I walk along, these lonely streets we knew
And every step I take, is a step away from you
And my heart aches, when time it takes…
Another piece of you.
Chorus:
In that grave where you lay
There`s a heart I can`t stop thinkin`of
And though I kneel and pray and I raise my hands above
I can`t get no love…. get no love
In that place where you stay
There`s a heart I can`t stop thinking`of.
I find my way, through the shadows on the hill
To be with you baby, where the air is cold and still
And though I try, to say goodbye
Don`t think I ever will.
I see your face, the memory I can`t lose
But it turns away, with every turn I choose
And bit by bit, I`m livin`with
These Nighthawk Blues.
Chorus:
In that grave where you lay
There`s a heart I can`t stop thinkin`of
And though I kneel and pray and I raise my hands above
I can`t get no love…. get no love
In that place where you stay
There`s a heart I can`t stop thinking`of.
