I wrote this song about growing up on my Daddys farm,
was a good but hard life. we had no bath, no lights, used kerosene lamps and irons you heat on the wood stove. toilet was outside.

GRUBBING OUT A LIVING
1
DADDY WAS A FARMER IN HIS OWN WAY
GRUBBING OUT A LIVING IN THE GA. CLAY
HAD HIM A SPREAD 300 ACRES WIDE
THERE HE LIVED TILL THE DAY HE DIED
2
DADDY SAID GAL YOU LISTEN TO ME
FIND YOU A MAN AS RICH AS A KING
BUY YOU A SPREAD 600 ACRES WIDE
NO MORE GRUBBING IN THE GA. CLAY.
3
NOW I'M GROWN GOT A HOME OF MY OWN
MET ME A FARMER I CAN CALL MY OWN
GOT US A SPREAD 300 ACRES WIDE
THERE WE'LL BE LIVING TILL THE DAY THAT WE DIE.
4
GOT ME A DAUGHTER AND I GOT ME A SON
TOLD THEM BOTH A LESSON I LEARNED
DON'T YOU MARRY A FARMER I PRAY
YOU'LL SPEND YOUR LIFE IN THE GA. CLAY.
CHO:
GRUBBING OUT A LIVING IN THE GA. CLAY
GRUBBING OUT A LIVING IN THE GA. CLAY
GRUBBING OUT A LIVING IN THE GA. CLAY
GRUBBING OUT A LIVING IN THE GA. CLAY.
