“Wash My Sins” – The Story Behind the Song

Shawn Adam Williams, a well-respected figure in the music scene with 12 ISSA Award nominations, 7 Josie Music Award nods, and 3 Golden Kayak Awards, is back with his new single, “Wash My Sins.” This track blends traditional blues with his deep personal experiences and will be featured on his forthcoming 2-song debut EP set for a 2025 release.

“Wash My Sins” serves as a reflection of the past year, capturing the rollercoaster of emotions Shawn has faced – from grief and mental fatigue to missed chances and depression. The song draws inspiration from his recent loss; his beloved grandmother, Irene Scott Goodwin, passed away at age 93 on July 4, 2024, prompting Shawn to reflect on his mother, Patricia Williams-Perdue, who has been gone for almost fifteen years.

Over the last year, Shawn has encountered numerous challenges, including participation in the Atlanta Blues Society Gathering and Jam, the BreezeFest ‘24, and the frustration of feeling overlooked at award shows. He faced setbacks, held himself against comparisons to fellow artists, and navigated distractions that threatened to derail his progress. Throughout this journey, he turned to faith, attending church to find solace and forgiveness.

Determined and undeterred, Shawn is embracing his musical path with renewed vigor, forging ahead on his own terms. “Wash My Sins” is poised to share his story and experiences over the past year, embodying his resilience and dedication.

Stay tuned for the release of “Wash My Sins” and prepare to delve into the poignant narrative behind the music. Keep an eye out for Shawn Adam Williams, the Southern Underdog of the Blues, in 2025.

It was a bitter pill to swallow
I was full of pain and sorrow
I was about to lose it all
They tried to pray for my downfall
So, I dropped down on my knees
And pray; "Lord, wash me please."

Please wash my sins
I promise that I won't do it again
Please wash my sins
Make me whole from deep within

I have learned a lot of lessons
I'll always counting my blessings
At times like these
It will be the best of me
I'll do my best to be a man
I hope everyone will understand x
