The song was written for a friend about his wife who passed away from cancer and his struggles trying to carry on without her. She was also a fan of War's guitar playing and he wanted to honour her with this tribute.

In the May Sun
To find some peace and pray
Not to lose the way
and though it's gone now
Her voice still resonates
It keeps the spirit higher
than any grief could take
I'm wandering
With the ghost of you
The wind howls from the sea
I hear a voice break through
With all the dreams we had
It was only two...oh two.
Chorus (Half)
To know that we are not alone
Her love is stronger than they know
Remember dancing nice and slow
In California memories flow
(Break one verse)
Fell into some lovin arms
Just to be held tightly
Some way to make it through
They'll be some lonely lonely nights
Chorus
To know that we are not alone
Her love is stronger than we know
Remember dancing nice and slow
In California memories glow
In the May sun
In the May sun
Verse
The morning the news came
The pain it took your breath
To not believe your ears
To think there's nothing left
To know one must fight through
Waiting to be together
Where the heart can touch
and finally know forever
Chorus (Mini Half)
To know that we are not alone
Our love is stronger than they know
In the May Sun
In the May Sun
