I wrote, recorded and released this song in a week. This was my first truly honest bit of songwriting where I faced some truths about myself. Just me and my guitar, far from perfect.

I hope you all fall in love with a poet
If only for one night
And I hope they make you shine like mine did
If only for one moment in time
I hope when you shine it come from a light from within
Like mine didn’t
My life’s been dull for too long I forgot what it felt like to be living
Truly living
Hey there poet boy,
Won’t you sing me a song about living and what it is to be young
Tell me I’ve been living wrong,
Go on, I dare you, help me change
Cause I need to, to go on
I hope somebody can hold the mirror up in front of you
And tell you to really look
And I hope that moment wakes you up and makes you terrified of not living
As it should
My realization made in a hotel in a cigarette and alcohol driven haze
God I’ve never wanted to do more, live more, laugh more, love more, cry more
Hey there poet boy,
Won’t you sing me a song about living and what it is to be young
Tell me I’ve been living wrong,
Go on, I dare you, help me change
Cause I need to, to go on
So my god if someone asks you to stay and you want to
Just do it
I’ve gotten caught up in the what if’s one to many times
To be forgiven
I vow never to make that mistake again, or who the fuck am I kidding?
At least I’ll try
But for now I’ll etch this song into my brain as words to change by
Hey there poet boy,
Won’t you sing me a song about changing and what it is to be young
Tell me I’ve been living wrong,
Go on, I dare you, make me change
Cause I need to, to go on
Help me to go on
