MULTI TRACK TEST RECORDING using acoustic guitar, 2 gal. jug, vocals, and lead acoustic guitar (4 tracks). "I used my ZOOM recorder's built-in mics but got mono tracks, I then felt I had to pan some in the edit (with the 4 mono tracks), so ended up with a stereo track .. Again, I'm experimenting here, and with my usual improv approach, which does not really work well with multi-tracking, when you have to follow the previous track/tracks .. John Lee Hooker had a similar style - he did a lot of improvisation I've read. So when he played with others live, the others had a hard time following him ('I wonder if he ever over-dubbed on any of his recordings?'" Typically a song would be written, and not improvised on the spot, something I have not had the discipline nor desire to do.. I may, I really should but I just love the freedom of total improvisation, it's like tapping into some other dimension .. divination?
