She asked me if I loved her
I didn't know what to say
The truth might only hurt her
a lie might make her day
In a jumble of emotion
The crowd looked on in awe
I, drowning in an ocean
looked sadly at the floor
She said 'I know You don't love me now"
She said "I know we'll get by somehow"
I mused about her thinking
an knew I'd done wrong
I'd lied without blinking
but wanted to belong
She seemed to want me anyway
and not just on her terms
and I at least on my part
had found a lesson learned.
I said "I know I don't love you now"
I said "I'll find a way somehow"
With time n gentle reasoning
my feelings for her grew
Although I never said the words
I think she kinda knew
and passion is so fleeting
true love is something more
I think it bears repeating:
true love is something more
She said 'I know You love me now"
She said "I know we'll get by somehow
