Lighting candles for the blind
When you think how you've wasted your time
All those days of just standing in line
When they ask always say that your fine
No matter the mountain you still have to climb
sometimes wish you could just drift away
leaving the mess far behind
Never could keep those feelings at bay
Don't have that sort of mind
but in the reckoning you'll come to see
you've been lighting candles for the blind
No matter what people say - gotta find your own way
In the cold light of day, it's them who'll have to pay
Though you still try to look for a sign
people claim it's just part of design
oh those taunts that are bitter malign
never matter if you come out fine
an when their claims come to nothing but dust
to your own self be true
All you know is they've broken your trust
it was never much about you
and in the reckoning you'll come to see
you've been lighting candles for the blind
