Tightrope
Well you sure enough been a good friend of mine
But you got a lot of weird ideas
I’ve a feelin’ inside that if you don’t change now
Pretty soon you’ll disappear
It’s an awful long way back to L.A.C.
It’s even further back to Indian Queens
It’s a mighty long road that you’ve walked this far
When you’re thinkin’ where you might have been
You’re walkin’ on a tightrope
Over a high road
Slippin’ down sideways
To the ground
Watch you don’t get choked
On the things you smoke
Watch you don’t let go of that line
You’re walkin’ into Kansas over highway nine
On a bridge that’s hangin’ by a string
If you don’t watch out for those smokies’ lights
You’re gonna find out what it feels like to swing
You’re commin’ on strong for some good advice
But I’ll tell you now you’ll get none from me
‘cos I’m still out on this dried-up lake
Between the devil & the deep blue sea
