About a roadtrip from Cornwall with a purpose
|
I drove atlantic highway
for a hundred miles or more
hugging to the coastline
with glimpses of the shore
The day had been hazy
the sun was goin' down
I seemed to loose my bearings
like some ship that's run aground
coming to my senses
I pushed on down the road
Thinking of the promises
and of the debt I owed.
Drowning in the memories of time
searching for that one elusive rhyme
break
The rain was beating harder
with no moon to light the way
with ev'ry choice a consequence
for some you have to pay
some of them may cause delay
some may drag you down
should make it before midnight
to the edge of her town
Taking such a gamble
on if she'll let me in
They say if you don't try
you can never win
Drowning in the memories of time
searching for that one elusive rhyme
