Written May 2024 about someone I vaguely knew some years back
|
She was cryin out for someone for more than just one night
She revelled in celebrity but couldn't make it right
All her childish girlhood dreams had turned to dust and gone
and though she always played the game - seems she never won
put it down to circumstance - she never stood a chance
She left her broken dreams on the road
She left her broken dreams out on the road
The greasy spoon, the cheap motel - dying in a living hell
She tried the blow, enjoyed the ride - keeps the secrets she won't tell
Another gig, another town. Another conquest lays her down
Knows she's used - likes the buzz wonders if she'll stay around
put it down to circumstance - she never stood a chance
She left her broken dreams on the road
She left her broken dreams out on the road
break
Saw the show - was not enough said she'd help out for a ride
Her self-respect was on the floor. seems she lost her pride
Now the years are catching up - The white dust took its toll
and every place she's ever slept is just another hole
She left her broken dreams on the road
She left her broken dreams out on the road
