A riff on the journey to enlightenment
Words and music by Val Jensen

This began as an experiment in writing a song mostly with one chord in the spirit of Tomorrow Never Knows. The gospel section at the end was initially intended as a brief outro, but it developed a little bit as kind of a second song - same theme but different spiritual vibe. Lyrics based on the Tibtan book of Living and Dying which I always wanted to find a way to use in a song. Bodhi means enlightenment. I realized too late that "Bodhi" is pronounced as "boo-di"

The Long Road to Bodhi
Open your mind, learn to be kind, new joy to find
Use everyday, to follow the way, leave worry behind
Wear your new soul on the long road to Bodhi
Study your sorrow and know that it is not real
Just your attachments to things confuse how you feel
Let fear disappear as leaves that are floating downstream
Awake or asleep the lives we call real are only a dream
Give up the illusion that your life is just as it seems
Searching for something that feels good ends in pain
Cursing the sun you run under a cloud curse the rain
Thoughts and emotions are waves on the ocean that pass
Don’t be afraid for like winter these will not last
Will not last
Come along
Come Along
Release your soul
On the Road to Bodhi
