"A Palimpsest and Golden Hour" closes Starlight Scars with layered time. A palimpsest is an overwritten surface where earlier text still ghosts beneath the new writing, while golden hour suggests beauty arriving at the edge of disappearance.
That makes the ending appropriately unresolved. Dot has exposed and damaged the design, Meresankh has reappeared in strange innocence, and the world is left as an overwritten page: not clean, not erased, but lit enough to read the scars underneath.
