fiogf49gjkf0d HAVE A MERRY PAGAN CHRISTMAS
Have a merry pagan Christmas under sprigs of mistletoe,
With the Yule log blazing
And the Christmas tree
Decked out with candleglow.
Lay your gifts beneath the World Tree
Where the wise one hung so high,
Swinging to and fro from the boughs above,
Seeing light through blinded eyes.
Meet me by the Maypole,
We’ll dance skyclad through the night,
Hand in hand in a faery land,
Weaving rings of magic light.
Have a happy Saturnalia,
Visit Isis and her child,
Bearing gifts from far off distant lands
Like starstruck Zoroastrians.
Be so bold to drop the pretense
Of sectarian prejudice,
The hand of old Saint Nicholas
Joins the present with the past.
Join the cross and evening star,
Minorah and crescent moon,
Buddha and Krishna and every voice
That illuminates the gloom.
Have a universal Christmas
Yuletide or Hanukkah,
We all are sisters and brothers
Beneath a common sun.
The light that shines on all of us
Can warm our frozen hearts
When we see through all our differences
And see love in every part.
Have a merry pagan Christmas,
And celebrate the difference,
Have a universal Christmas
With love in every heart.
