Bears in the Woods
(Words and music copyright 2008 Steve Swellander)
There are bears in the woods
And trees so thick you can't see ahead,
If you lose your way, you might never be found
Keep your senses about you
Or you might end up dead.
There are bears in the woods.
There are bears in the woods
Wolverines and snakes and even skunks underfoot
And stickers and brambles and insects that bite
It's a ferocious place
If you don't know where to look.
There are bears in the woods.
Keep your eyes open and try to keep calm
Ain't no need to panic, stay cool
If you become lost on a cold mountainside
Just think of the beautiful view.
There are bears in the woods
Maybe they won’t eat you if you leave them alone
We all get hungry and a little crazy
Think of the bear, try to see things his way
Ain't nothing personal when when the bear comes around
There are bears in the woods.
There are bears in the woods
When you're sitting, lost in your own wilderness
Your mind's on the prowl, looking to digest,
Hungry, devouring all in its way
Sometimes it’s the critters, sometimes it’s you, my friend,
There are bears in the woods.
Think of all the honey you'll gather
Remember how the bees they do sting
You can curl up next winter in a nice warm cave
And wake up hungry in the spring.
There are bears in the woods.
