I paid attention when he got that twinkle in his eye
Mr. Peabody and Sherman off into the sky
He remembered the Crash he was a Doughboy over there
When World War One ended fighting forever everywhere
he'd say
The grass is only greener when it isn't yours to mow
It's what you do with what you've got
That makes your time go fast or slow
Where does time go?
Granny said I’ll save that jacket
cause in the pocket on a chain
Strands of hair in a silver locket
I gave him up in Buffalo
On the honeymoon train
What a gift is memory we live so many lives
Martin lives when I recall the twinkle in his eyes
Bess outlived him 20 years and missed him every day
Sometimes when the moon is right I still hear him say
Where does the time go?
The grass is only greener when it isn’t yours to mow
It’s what you do with what you’ve got, sonny
That makes your time go fast or slow
Where does the time go?
I paid attention when he got that twinkle in his eye
Mr. Peabody and Sherman off into the sky
