yesterday I went to see my good friend Joe
He was sitting all alone, staring at the telephone
Joe seemed oblivious to the fact that I was there
as he carried on his two way conversation .. with the air
and it went something like this ....

It's been way to long since we went out and kicked up our heels....
They still talk about the things we done back in our home town....

before it all went to hell ...

I must admit I sure miss the times that we together...

I remember skinny dippin down at Looking Glass Pond
Yeah the whole Sr. class was there, cheering us on....
And that New Years Eve Just had to be our finest hour ...
When we climbed up and made love on top the water tower ... before it all went to hell

Well after awhile Joe looked up and wiped a tear from his eye
He said "Sorry Sam, I just can't seem to get this conversation out of my mind"
This is how it would have went you know ... If I'd have picked up the phone
for months I've been planning on making this call ....
Well I said "Man pick it up and give her a call Joe"
He said "I would Sam ... but I just got word ... she's gone"
