A poetic observation of materialism...

Snappin' at the Champs Elysées
"Pardon me", say the bony boy
"It's seems you dropped your heart and broke it-
mon dieu there goes the joy"
It is not my heart- you're mistaken-
my was taken so long ago
by a vision risin' from the ocean
in the pursuit of love
and all for the good life.
Oh!
huh, huh, huh, huh
And these are the things we want
She had shades of gold and purple
pillows stuffed with eiderdown
took a look out side her window
ev'rything was dull and brown
tatterdemalions stand in the alley way
looking high and looking low
faces carved with wrinkle-trenches
leathery fingers a-moving slow
and all for the good life
Don't get me started!
Your image fits you like a glove
elusive and I can't see you
too many clouds to rise above
to see the purest state of love
and these are the things we want
oh oh ooh woh ooh oh
Your image fits you like a glove
elusive and I can't see you
too many clouds to rise above
to see the purest state of love
and these are the things we want
love
and these are the things we want
love
and these are the things we want
