I actually wrote this song a few years ago-it is about a friend of mine whose home was broken into while she and her husband were sleeping. They were both attacked with an ax-he did not survive but she did with the help of significant medical and emotional support. She was the only witness to the event. I drove by their house/crime scene a few days after this happened and that is when I started writing this song. At the time I wrote it no one had been charged with the crime but the primary suspect was one of their children. That child was later convicted of the crime and is currently in prison. During the entire investigation and trial there were family pictures all over the news and newspapers. This song was written as a testament to my friend's courage and determination to get her life as back together as it can possibly be.
