LEGENDARY MUSIC
I've been holed up in the cabin this week - my annual time away by myself at this time of the year treating my soul to the quiet peace of winter couched in my old Lazy-boy rocker, my cowboy boots kicked off and my heart being restored and warmed by the embers and flames flickering and glowing in the fireplace, dreaming of campfires, tumbleweed, starry nights and making love ... sweet memories all, and not giving a tinker's damn about who's Right or who's Left, and definitely not wanting to meet up with Covid! It’s not quite the same here though without Old Rascal curled up on his trusty old Navajo blanket on the floor between me and the fireplace. He’s likely still rambling around up there on Rainbow Bridge waiting for ... well, you know, waiting for me to show up like he knows I'm going to do one day ... just not too soon though I hope. Right now though, I'm having my musical heart and soul filled through and through embracing the sound of the one and only James Stanley Howen's trademark deep baritone mid-western lilting vocals on this wonderfully toe-tapping heart-warming story in the American grain of family lore with that awesome fiddle and mandolin complimenting the rest of the band and James all sounding like they're the main feature at a legendary Country Jamboree. My old rocker hasn't had such a good workout in a long time. Think I'll have another listen or two ...
