During the civil war, the famous "Irish Brigade", known for their courage, and tenacity, ...used the celtic battle cry: "Faugh-An-Ballah (pronounced as Fah-Bal-La) loosely translated it means "Clear the way!"
After the war the motto was adopted by some predominately Irish fire brigades into the fire service, where it is still used today.

We shall meet again,
one sunny day.
Tell my love,
her love;
was on his way.
To heed the pipes,
they're calling now,
to join the fray...
to the field,
they march;
to win the day...
"Faugh An Ballagh, "
"Clear the way!"
Don't the pipes sound sweet today.
How fast they march!
We shall meet again,
one sunny day.
Tell my love...
her love,
has been delayed.
Hear the pipes
they're calling now,
to mourn the brave.
And 'tis here
with them,
that he remains.
Faugh An Ballagh!
Clear the way!
don't the pipes sound sweet today?
How fast they march!
Faugh An Ballagh!
Clear the way!
don't the pipes sound sweet today?
How fast they march...
away!
We shall meet again,
one sunny day.
Tell my love,
I fear;
that I am late.
For to soon,
the darkness comes,
to end the day.
And it's to sleep,
awhile,
that he has stayed.
Faugh An Ballagh!
Clear the way!
don't the pipes sound sweet today?
How fast they march...
Away!
Faugh An Ballagh!
Clear the way!
And don't the pipes sound sweet today?
How fast they march...
Away!
Faugh An Ballagh!
Clear the way!
Open up the pearly gate!
How fast they march away...
Faugh An Ballagh!
Clear the way!
Don't the pipes sound sweet today?
Tell the Angels: Clear the way!
